The Food Truck
I was trying to come up with something new and different for Staff Appreciation Week this year. We’ve done soup, I suppose we could have done salads, but I thought a food truck would be fun! The food truck we reserved offered a variety of soups, sandwiches, sliders, salads, and had gluten-free options. The staff shuttled out to the food truck for their lunch and thankfully the serious rain held off until after lunch.
It took some work to convince the food truck to come to our school instead of parking outside an office complex. If you go this route start early. Months early. We thanked and acknowledged the food truck in our weekly school newsletter and on our website. Hopefully, our event introduced her to new customers and families at our school.
The Hospitality Committee provided desserts and drinks for our Interstellar Lunch. Those items are inexpensive, but add up fast when multiplied by 50+ people!
We utilized Groupons for the food truck lunch. Catered lunches can take up a huge portion of any budget. I spoke with the company to confirm that I could use multiple Groupons for our event before purchasing them, and still, there was some... confusion. If you go the Groupon route, I recommend getting their approval/understanding of your usage in writing beforehand. It all worked out in the end, but it was touch-and-go there for a few minutes.
It's Your Turn!
